Welcome to Chambres and table d’hôtes Le Charme du Périgord

Who are we?

In 2022 we, Leo and Anja, exchanged the Dutch Betuwe for this former farmhouse with over 4 hectares of land at the edge of the Périgord-Vert in the Dordogne. After major renovations, we will be renting out a guest room with en-suite bathroom and a fully equipped guest apartment as from June 2025. We also offer a table d’hôtes service.

We are passionate about giving you a pleasant, relaxing, and comfortable stay in this beautiful region we’ve fallen in love with. We try to do so with care for the environment. The toilets are flushed with water from our own well, and much of our electricity is generated by 20 solar panels. Seasonal vegetables and fruit come from our own garden.

Where are we?

Our house is located in Puyfranc, a small hamlet with five houses that is part of the community of Saint-Sulpice d’Excideuil. Our village is in the Périgord-Vert, in the beautiful Dordogne department.

You’ll find yourself in authentic French countryside with small-scale farming and livestock, mixed with woods and sleepy, picturesque villages. A paradise for hikers, mountain bikers, or experienced cyclists. But there are also lively towns full of culture and history, caves, and countless castles. Within 60 minutes by car, cities such as Périgueux, Limoges, and Brive-la-Gaillarde are easily accessible.
Here you can enjoy typical local products and regional dishes. The area is known for its walnuts, truffles, apples, foie gras, and much more. Many small organic farmers sell their produce directly from their homes or at local markets. A mere 15-minute walk from Le Charme du Périgord you will find a small épicerie where you can buy daily necessities such as bread, vegetables, and fruit, as well as delicious locally produced cheeses, beers, jams, and meats. Supermarkets, restaurants, terraces, and shops are plenty in Thiviers or Excideuil, both within 15 minutes by car.

Need to stretch your legs? Take a walk around our 4.5-hectare property to the charming oak grove, vegetable garden, or orchard.

Travel without charging stress

Not only can you recharge with us – your electric car can too. Our private parking area has two 11kW Type II charging points. So you can enjoy carefree electric driving in this part of the Dordogne, where charging stations are still relatively sparse. Don’t forget your charging cable.

The rooms

Most of the house and part of the outbuildings date back to around 1800 and remained in the hands of one family until we purchased it in 2022. The guest rooms have a separate entrance, so you have plenty of privacy. They’re fully equipped so you can retreat comfortably whenever you like. Due to the steps and staircases that are characteristic for 18th century farm houses, the rooms are not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

We offer a spacious, comfortable guest room with a king-size bed, a sitting- and dining area, and an en-suite bathroom. A small fridge and microwave/grill are available exclusively for this room.
We also have a fully equipped apartment with an open plan kitchen, a bedroom with a king-size bed, and a beautiful bathroom.

Guests can use the veranda and various seating areas around the house, and help themselves to a drink from our honesty bar. You can play a game of jeu de boules or simply explore the grounds. Several times a week you can enjoy our table d’hôtes service. In the summer, we regularly bake delicious pizzas in our authentic wood-fired bread oven.

All rooms have excellent WiFi through a fiber connection and are suitable for working or streaming your favorite series on the smart TV with Chromecast. There are no facilities for children in the rooms or on the property.

We look forward to welcoming you to our chambres d’hôtes!

A bientôt,
Anja & Leo
