Welcome to Le Charme du Périgord
Who are we?
In 2022 we, Leo and Anja, exchanged the Dutch Betuwe for this former farmhouse with over 4 hectares of land at the edge of the Périgord-Vert in the Dordogne. After major renovations, we will be renting out a guest room with en-suite bathroom and a fully equipped guest apartment as from June 2025. And from June 2026 onwards, a spacious caravan and a luxury tent will become available. We also offer a table d’hôtes service.
We are passionate about giving you a pleasant, relaxing, and comfortable stay in this beautiful region we’ve fallen in love with. We try to do so with care for the environment. The toilets are flushed with water from our own well, and much of our electricity is generated by 20 solar panels. Seasonal vegetables and fruit come from our own garden.

Where are we?
Our house is located in Puyfranc, a small hamlet with five houses that is part of the community of Saint-Sulpice d’Excideuil. Our village is in the Périgord-Vert, in the beautiful Dordogne department.
You’ll find yourself in authentic French countryside with small-scale farming and livestock, mixed with woods and sleepy, picturesque villages. A paradise for hikers, mountain bikers, or experienced cyclists. But there are also lively towns full of culture and history, caves, and countless castles. Périgueux, Limoges and Brive-la-Gaillarde are within easy reach, and popular destinations such as Sarlat-la-Canéda or Beynac make great day trips. Here you can enjoy typical local products and regional dishes. The area is known for its walnuts, truffles, apples, foie gras, and much more. Many small organic farmers sell their produce directly from their homes or at local markets.
A mere 15-minute walk from Le Charme du Périgord you will find a small épicerie where you can buy daily necessities such as bread, vegetables, and fruit, as well as delicious locally produced cheeses, beers, jams, and meats. Supermarkets, restaurants, terraces, and shops are plenty in Thiviers or Excideuil, both within 15 minutes by car.
Travel without charging stress
Not only can you recharge with us – your electric car can too. Our private parking area has two 11kW Type II charging points. So you can enjoy carefree electric driving in this part of the Dordogne, where charging stations are still relatively sparse. Don’t forget your charging cable.
The rooms
Most of the house and part of the outbuildings date back to around 1800 and remained in the hands of one family until we purchased it in 2022. The guest rooms have a separate entrance, so you have plenty of privacy. They’re fully equipped so you can retreat comfortably whenever you like. Due to the steps and staircases that are characteristic for 18th century farm houses, the rooms are not suitable for guests with limited mobility.
We offer a spacious, comfortable guest room with a king-size bed, a sitting- and dining area, and an en-suite bathroom. A small fridge and microwave/grill are available exclusively for this room.
We also have a fully equipped apartment with an open plan kitchen, a bedroom with a king-size bed, and a beautiful bathroom.
Spacious caravan or luxury tent with private bathroom
Enjoy complete peace and quiet in the Périgord in our spacious caravan or luxury tent. Comfort and nature blend here into an unforgettable holiday. Wake up to birdsong, relax beneath the stars and experience the charm of the region.
The caravan features a spacious fixed bed, cooker, fridge, microwave, coffee and tea facilities and heating.
The luxury tent (approx. 20 m²) includes a comfortable double bed (160×200), electricity, outdoor kitchenette, coffee/tea facilities and a fan.
Both the tent and caravan have their own private bathroom and toilet in the nearby sanitary building.
Good food and drinks
Guests staying in the chambre start the day with a generous breakfast of fresh products and eggs from our own chickens. For apartment guests, breakfast can be booked separately.
We also offer table d’hôtes by arrangement: this may be a simple meal, pizza from our 200-year-old wood-fired oven, or a full three-course dinner. When possible, we use produce from our garden or from local suppliers. Prices range from EUR 17.50 to 25.00 per person, drinks not included.
Of course, you can also enjoy eating out: several restaurants can be found within 15 minutes. And don’t miss the lively local marchés gourmands!
Other facilities
All accommodations, including the caravan and tent, offer excellent WiFi via a fibre connection. The rooms are also ideal for working or watching your favourite series on the smart TV with Chromecast.
There are no facilities for children in the rooms, caravan, tent or on the grounds.
Guests can make use of the veranda and various seating areas around the house and help themselves to drinks from our honesty bar. You can play pétanque or simply wander around and enjoy the property.
We look forward to welcoming you as our guest!
A bientôt,
Anja & Leo
